On Being At Sea

A peek at my musical diary from 10 days crossing the Atlantic

I spent 10 days on a ship crossing the Atlantic and recorded 4 short pieces of music along the way. I haven’t entirely decided if this music is finished yet, but here’s a link so you can listen: https://s.disco.ac/kslgvfmojpke

All of the sounds were recorded/created while I was at sea (with the exception of a couple of piano sounds in the background on two tracks for which I used the Lekko plugin by Felt Instruments). Some of it involves straight ahead mandolin recordings which were recorded in my stateroom, and other parts are manipulated samples I recorded with my cellphone of unique sounds I noticed on board (like the ship’s elevator chime).
